Etymology & Symbolism
Helios is the Greek God of the sun. He is most famously depicted as the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. The myths surrounding Helios serve as inspiration for our team culture, competition team group names, and logo/color scheme.
Helios is described as the personification of the Sun, and by Homer as a God who gives joy to mortals. Our swim programs (team and lessons) thrive when everyone is joyful, energetic, and eager to learn.
Helios rode in a chariot drawn by 4 winged horses: Pyrois (The Fiery One), Aeos (He who turns the sky), Aethon (Blazing), and Phlegon (Burning). These horses inspired our team group names EOS, BLAZE, and HEAT.
The Helios Swim colors are a fiery red, a sunny gold, and an ocean blue, inspired by the colors of sunrise and sunset over the ocean.
